September got off to a busy start on the Boudin Barndance this evening with
loads on the agenda. Featured music from a variety of acts playing in the area
this weekend including Pam Tillis, Slaid Cleaves, Duncan Walters, C.J. Chenier,
Buckwheat Zydeco, Jon Rauhouse, Rachel Ries, Lucky 57, and Tommy Womack the
latter of whom plays a house concert this Saturday evening hosted by yours
truly. We remember rockabilly gal Janice Martin who passed away on Monday. We
put the spotlight on Austin honky tonker Roger Wallace’s new album “It’s About
Time.” And we welcomed September and URI back in session with Big Star’s
“September Gurls”. New releases making it into the Barndance rotation for the
first time this evening included recordings from Lyle Lovett, Duncan Walters,
King Cake, Roger Wallace, Mekons, Ha Ha Tonka, Bettye LaVette and Toni Price. Buttshaker of the
night????? The late Janice Martin with “Drugstore Rock n’ Roll”. Now let’s all
grab a cold one and get to the goods…..
