First off, we had planned to have Sarah Borges in the studio this evening to
promote her performance at the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River on
Saturday night (www.ncfta.org), however, with one of our two microphones out of
commission, we postponed until a later date. (It’s tough interviewing someone
on the air with a single microphone.) We still featured a block of her music.
Also featured tunes from Jack Smith of Jack Smith & the Rockabilly Planet fame
who plays his final Rhode Island gig on Saturday night (November 19) at the
Narragansett Cafe in Jamestown. A favorite haunt of Jack’s over the years,
it’ll be one of those must-attend events. And by the way, admission is always
free. New releases making the Barndance hit parade for the inital time included
recordings from the Texas Swing Kings, Kevin Gordon, the late Blaze Foley, Neil
Diamond, and two new R&B/soul compilations, the 2nd volume of “Night Train to
Nashville” and a Sundazed collection called “My, Goodness, Yes!” focusing on
sides for Shelby S. Singleton’s Silver Fox record label. Buttshaker of the
night???? Jack Smith & the Rockabilly Planet with “Papa Told Mama”.

Just a heads up that once again on the Thanksgiving night edition of the Boudin
Barndance next week, we’ll celebrate the legacy of Doug Sahm. Tune in for three
hours of Sir Doug. Now onto the goods…..
