Mostly an odds & ends Boudin Barndance program this evening with threads galore. Featured a couple from the Eilen Jewel Band and their gospel spinoff The Sacred Shakers each of whom play in the area this weekend.  The Eilen Jewel Band is at the Narrows in Fall River on Saturday night (www.ncfta.org) while The Sacred Shakers play a house cocnert hosted by yours truly on Sunday afternoon. Inspired by a song from the recent Ry Cooder release “Steel Guitar Heaven”, we featured a set from some of the legendary players he namedrops in that song. Lone yuletide song of the night, The Black Lips from a Norton single with “Xmas in Bagdad”. Releases making the Barndance hit parade for the first time included new stuff from the Wee Hairy Beasties, Patty Loveless, Amber Digby, Leona Williams, the terrific new one from Steve Wynn, Spindrift, and the highly recommended “Texas nuggets” compilation “Never Ever Land”.  Buttshaker of the week???? I’m thinkin’ Heavy Trash with “She Baby”.  Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods……
