This evening was the final full Boudin Barndance radio show of 2017 as we will only be on for 30 minutes next week and there is no show on the 28th. Winter has finally hit here with bitter cold and snow today, but the Barndance was here to warm y’all up out there in listener land. Chief on the agenda tonight were: 1) A listen to the new album from local hero Mark Cutler; ) A sampling of the mix CD accompanying The Oxford American magazine annual music issue with this year’s focus on Kentucky artists; 3) Ticket giveaways for Deer Tick at the Newport Blues Cafe on Dec. 28 with The Z-Boys opening. Besides all that, the usual Barndance mix. Still some 2017 releases making the Barndance hit parade for the first time. In addition to the new one from Mark Cutler, recordings from Dan Whitaker & the Shinebenders, The Hens, The Bakersfield Breakers, and The Oxford American sampler all debuted on tonight’s program. Oh yeah, we played one in memory of Wayne Cochran who passed away near the end of November. Buttshaker of the week???? The Tarbox Ramblers who play the 200th show of our house concert series on January 5 with “Already Gone.” Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
