Recent reviews include Jim Stringer, Andre Williams, Laura Cantrell, New
Guitar Summit, Larry Lange & His Lonely Nights, Alejandro Escovedo, Heybale,
and Chris “Sugarballs” Sprague. New releases making their Barndance debut this evening were the two from
Blue Mountain, the sophomore release from Brothers & Sisters, and the Woody
Guthrie Tribute Tour compilation.

The game plan for this evening’s Boudin Barndance was finally conceived
about 9 pm last night. It came somewhat unraveled as a result of a 10:30 PM
phone call from a close pal in Dripping Springs, Texas informing me of the
death of our close Austin friend Danny Roy Young earlier that day. Maybe you knew Danny via his
proprietorship of the Texicalli Grill on E. Oltorf or perhaps for his
rubboard work as part of the Cornell Hurd Band or Ponte Bones’ Squeezetones.
What is a given is that if you were fortunate to cross paths with him, you
sure as heck would never forget it. For me and countless others, he truly
was the heart and soul of Austin, Texas and was a big, big reason for my
love for that town. Tonight’s show was dedicated to Danny Roy and while we
stuck a bit to the game plan, we had to pay tribute somehow with playing a
bunch of Cornell Hurd Band music (and a few Ponty Bone numbers) the best we
could do. We loved Danny and we’ll miss him. Buttshaker of the week????
“Rubboard Playin’ Man” from the Cornell Hurd Band. Now let’s all grab a
cold one and hoist it to Danny Roy, a one of a kind who made the life of
everyone he met richer. Onto the goods….
