A busy evening on the Boudin Barndance. Did ticket giveaways and previewed upcoming shows by Jon Langford (Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River on Oct. 13 – www.ncfta.org) and Yonder Mountain String Band (Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel in Providence, also on Oct. 13 – www.lupos.com). Inspired by Jim Lauderdale’s show last week at the Narrows and the fact that he played so much material from his 1990 release Planet of Love, we dedicated a couple of sets to major label Nashville releases from the 1990-91 time period most of which wouldn’t stand a chance in this day & age. New releases making the Barndance hit parade for the first time included albums from the Hunger Mountain Boys and the new 4-CD Byrds retrospective. Buttshaker of the night????? Jerry McCain & the Upstars with “My Next Door Neighbor”. Now onto the goods….
